Duly accredited by the Chilean Air Force, Aeromilitaria Argentina was one of only two Argentine press media attending exercise Salitre II's press day on 21 October 2009. The exercise took place in the North of Chile and was destined to share and test operational and tactical capabilities in a simulated mission where a multi-national force is tasked with restoring peace to a conflictive region anywhere in the World. Most of the participating aircraft operated from Antofagasta air base, though several supporting units did so from Iquique air base further North. Participating forces included United States F-15C/D Eagles and HC-130H Hercules from 122 FS/149 FW "Bayou Militia" (Lousiana Air National Guard), KC-135R Stratotankers from 197 ARS "Copperheads"/161 ARW (Arizona Air National Guard) and HC-130P Hercules from 71 RQS "Kings"/23rd Wing "Flying Tigers"; Argentine A/TA-4AR Fighting Hawks from V Br Aé and KC-130H Hercules and F.28 Fellowship from I Br Aé; Brazilian AMX/AMX-T from 10º GAv; Chilean F-5E Tigre III from Grupo 7, Bell 412 and F-16A/BMLU from Grupo 8, Boeing 737-500 and Beech 99 Airliner from Grupo 10; and French Mirage 2000C from EC01.012 "Cambrésis", E-3F Sentry EDCA00.036 "Berry" and KC-135FR Stratotanker from GRV 00.093 "Bretagne" (photos by Carlos Ay). |
